TIMMER

Timmer is a game about chopping wood! This was the core concept me and my animatior friend had in mind when we set out to create this game as a side project in between other responsibilites

The game follows lambert the royal lumberjack of a kingdom now in ruins. Washed up on a strange new land your goal is to chop wood and process planks in order to help build a new settlement for your people.

Design and Scope

Timmer is something i've been working on whenever i have the free time to do so. The bulk of the game was developed in between work and school and is currently not in development. What we do have is a decent demo of what could be a much greater game

The initial concept was a game where you chop wood in order to get better at chopping wood. This bloomed into a design where that is still the core but in a semi open world rpg setting

A prototype map for what would be the complete game

The core of player progression in timmer is rescuing the stranded people of your previous kingdom, as you help them back to the new settlement and provide them with new homes they will be able to help you in ways such as. Selling new axes, upgrading your axes, unlocking new areas

The current version of timmer however has most of its focus on its core gameplay, movement and woodcutting

Blueprint

Apart from the design i was responsible for getting the game working. Timmer is built mainly in blueprint and i learned a lot about the system as well as other unreal systems such as how it handles animation.

It was a great experience working with the wood cutting of the game. I'm used to having a lot more refferences and resources when working on gameplay systems than i did for this and i really got a lot of time to experiment with different ways of implementation the gameplay features of Timmer
